Tabby - Brown - Medium - Baby - Female - Cat - Fireman Rescued!
Our Sadie was rescued by a very compassionate fireman with the Jersey City Fire Department. The day she got hit by the car turned out to truly be her lucky day. Badly injured, and terribly frightened, she was only 4 months old and couldnt move to get out of the street. This fireman spotted her and scooped her up, keeping her with him in the firehouse until he was off duty that day. He then went to a succession of veterinarians who quoted fees in excess of $1400 to repair this poor kittys broken leg and hip. One hospital suggested he turn her over as a stray to be euthanized. All of these hospitals meant well, but they know that most people dont have this kind of money to lay out on a cat that is not their own. Not knowing what he would do yet, but knowing he didnt save her just to put her down, the fireman made sure she was comfortable and had her bloodwork done and started her vaccinations while he looked around for help. Through a friend, this man found S.A.R.A., who, with a stretch of good timing and the right contacts, was able to obtain a reasonable rate on the surgery and take Sadie into our rescue organization. Her surgery entailed putting pins in one of her legs, and required keeping her caged for at least three weeks. Her foster home reported that Sadie had a great appetite, eating like she was going to the chair and couldnt wait to get out of that cage. With several short forays out of the cage for exercise, Sadie met the other dogs and cats in her foster home, which also did so much for her recovery. To make a donation toward the cost of Sadies surgery and the subsequent care, contact Kathleen at SARACats@aol.com, or call 732-309-4089 for details. Now after $1000 in medical bills to get her fully up to speed, Sadie is about 9 months old (DOB approx. July, 2006), and is ready for a home of her own. The double photo is a picture of her just prior to surgery, when she was a little bit of a thing. Sadie is active, lively, healthy, and shows no trace of this former injury. She is a special, happy, self-assured girl who shows terribly at the Petco. When she comes up for adoption days, she cowers in her cage and growls and hisses at her tail and any person who comes by her cage. The approved applicant will have to come and meet Sadie at her foster home in Union Beach, where she will show you her true lively and assertive personality. Sadie is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations until March 2008, and negative for FIV/FeLV. With proper introduction, she will get along fine with other cats and a cat-friendly dog. What began with a dramatic rescue can conclude with a fairy-tale endingdo you have room in your heart and home for this little fireball? A heart of huge kindness rescued this little girl literally from the street, and made sure she would be saved when she was turned over to usthis is not only a tribute to human kindness, but also to how important life is to Jersey Citys bravest.
